As the night was longer, the ghosts took advantage of it, according to legend, to come and haunt the villagers. The Irish then put on their scariest costumes to scare them away! When the Celts migrated to the United States, they took their tradition with them. Since then, it has conquered many countries and especially the hearts of children! Even if the candy hunt is part of the ritual, creating a special Halloween menu delights young and old alike.

Scary and monstrously delicious pastries for Halloween!

What is marvelous in pastry is that the creations are as pretty to look at as they are good to eat. Cooking has always been a moment of sharing with children for many parents. For some, it can even very quickly turn into a flour battle on the tip of your nose!

But here, forget the beautiful and give way to the terrifying ! You will see that some of our recipes are quite realistic. This is what your children appreciate the most. That little bit of adrenaline from eating hooked witch fingers or devouring a mummy or a spider! Hum! How disgusting!

1. The strange cupcake of Mr. Jack

😵 Our scary guy with a tender heart is coming to your house for Halloween . It is monstrously chocolatey! 🎭

List of ingredients for your Halloween pastry

For the cupcakes:

  • 150 g of dark chocolate
  • 75 g of butter
  • 15 cl of milk
  • ½ packet of baking powder
  • 150 g of flour
  • 70 gr caster sugar 2 eggs

For the frosting:

  • 200 g icing sugar
  • 1 egg white
  • ½ lemon
  • A little melted dark chocolate

The recipe for "The strange cupcake of Mr. Jack"

After having previously preheated your oven to 180° (th.6), you will be able to whisk your two eggs with the sugar. Your mixture must “whiten”.

Then you have to break your chocolate into small pieces to do it with a little butter in the microwave or in a bain-marie.

When your preparation is smooth, you can incorporate it into your mixture.

You will now gradually add the flour and baking powder, mixing regularly, then the milk. Proceed in the same way, in small quantities, to avoid lumps. Mix your preparation well until you obtain a homogeneous paste.

When your dough is ready, you can divide it into muffin molds and let them bake for 20 to 25 minutes in the oven.

Meanwhile, you are going to prepare your icing!

In a mixing bowl, you must energetically mix your egg white with the icing sugar. When your preparation begins to set, add the lemon and whisk for a few more seconds to evenly distribute your juice.

When your muffins are done, let them cool. It is only when they are very cold that you can, using a spatula, glaze your cakes. Let your creations cool again, and when your frosting is dry, use a little melted dark chocolate to draw Mr Jack's face with your piping bag.

2. Spooky Ghosts

Need an easy and scary recipe? This ghost brownie will seduce you… or haunt you! 👻

This soft-hearted ghost is coming to your home for Halloween. It is also monstrously chocolatey! 🦇

List of ingredients for your Halloween pastry

For the brownies

  • 250 g of pastry chocolate
  • 1 sachet of vanilla sugar
  • 150 g of butter
  • 3 eggs
  • 150 g of sugar
  • 60 g of flour
  • 1 pinch of salt

For decoration:

  • Marshmallows/small marshmallows
  • white chocolate
  • 1 black edible pen or black sugar paste

The recipe for “Scary Ghosts”

Start by melting your chocolate squares with the butter. While your chocolate is melting, you can, in a mixing bowl or a salad bowl, beat your eggs with the sugar until your preparation whitens.

Gradually add the flour, vanilla sugar and your melted chocolate.

Pour your preparation into a mold (preferably square or rectangle) and bake your cupcakes for 15 min at 180° (th.6).

When your brownie is cooked and slightly cooled, you can cut it into small squares.

Arrange them on a serving tray and set aside.

Melt your white chocolate in a bain-marie. When the mixture is smooth and homogeneous, pour directly on your squares of brownies to make the white dress of the ghosts. While your chocolate is still hot, place a marshmallow on each cake. This will be your ghost 's head. Once your chocolate dries and hardens, your buds won't budge.

You can then decorate your faces either with a food pen or with sugar paste. If you choose the second option, using your rolling pin spread your dough well then cut out with a knife the shape of the eyes (two rounds) and the mouth (1 oval) for each of your halloween characters .

3. Strange Skeletons

🎃 In this recipe, the bones are crispy! You can imagine several variants with mummies. With a few dyes, you can also make terrible monsters or vampires! ☠️

List of ingredients for your Halloween pastry

For your cookies

  • 1 orange
  • 1 egg
  • 220 g of flour
  • 100 g of hazelnut
  • 100 g brown sugar
  • 100 g of butter
  • 1 pinch of cinnamon powder
  • 2 g nutritional yeast

For your decoration

  • 100 g of dark dessert chocolate
  • 180 g of white dessert chocolate

The recipe for “Strange Skeletons”

After having previously preheated your oven to 200° (th.7), mix all the ingredients: flour, sugar, egg, soft butter, hazelnut powder, baking powder, orange zest and cinnamon .

Mix well, then finish by hand to form a nice ball that you will let rest in the refrigerator for 20 minutes.

Then, you will flower (flour) your work plan to spread your cookie dough. When it is homogeneous and of the desired thickness, you will be able to cut it.

Use cookie cutters in the shape of a man or carve them with a knife. You can make 12 little good men that you will transform later.

Once you have your characters, lay them out on a sheet of parchment paper. Place them in the freezer for 15 minutes then bake for 10 minutes.

Meanwhile, melt your chocolates in two separate containers.

Let your baked cookies cool and decorate your skeletons with a piping bag.

With white chocolate :

  • round head,
  • Straight limbs, and 3 sides in the center

Mummy variant :

  • A white headband
  • Two circles for the eyes
  • Nets in all directions for the strips

With dark chocolate :

  • A spike on the skeleton's head or mummy's eyes , a nose and a mouth on skeletons only.

4. The spider weaves its web

🕸️ Would you like a cake for Halloween? Unless you're afraid of spiders, this one should be for you! 🕷️

List of ingredients for your Halloween pastry

Prepare two chocolate cakes that will be superimposed on each other.

For 1 chocolate cake

  • 250 g of butter
  • 200 g of sugar
  • 250 g of dark chocolate
  • 70 g of flour
  • 4 eggs

For your icing

  • 200 g icing sugar
  • yellow and red dye
  • 1 Round cookie (Pepito, chocolate cut in half)
  • Licorice roll

The recipe for "the spider weaves its web"

For the cake, the recipe is extremely simple and wonderfully tasty! After preheating your oven to 180° (th.6), melt your chocolate and butter in a bain-marie.

Meanwhile, in a bowl or mixing bowl, beat the eggs and sugar until the mixture whitens (it begins to foam).

You will now be able to incorporate your chocolate/butter mixture. Mix well until your dough is smooth and homogeneous.

After having buttered and floured your cake tin (round, about 24 cm in diameter, the second can be smaller, about 20 cm in diameter), pour your preparation.

Bake for 25 minutes, then let cool.

To prepare your icing, you will mix the icing sugar with 2 tablespoons of water. Stir well.

Reserve a small part of the white icing for the canvas, for the rest mix a few drops of yellow and red coloring to obtain a nice orange.

Spread your frosting with a spatula to obtain a smooth result. Let dry and set before decorating your cake with your white icing. Draw a spider web.

Arrange your biscuit chocolate side up, then with the rolls of liquorice, form the legs of your spider.

5. The Zombie Graveyard

List of ingredients for your Halloween pastry

For the sponge cake :
• 4 eggs
• 120 g of sugar
• 90 g of flour
• 30 g of cocoa
• ½ sachet of baking powder


For the ganache :
• 25 cl of heavy cream
• 1 tablespoon of sugar
• 1 tablespoon of butter
• 200 g of chocolate


For decorating your cake :
• 6 cat's tongue biscuits
• Crumbled Oreo for the earth
• 4 bone-shaped Meringues
• Orange and green sugar paste
• Mikados
• 1 food pen

Recipe for “Zombie Graveyards”

For your sponge cake, you must whisk the sugar and the eggs to obtain a frothy preparation. Then, sift the flour, cocoa and baking powder, gently mixing your preparation with a spatula.

Place a baking paper in your removable mold and pour your preparation.

Cook for 20 min at 180° (th6). Turn out your hot cakes then let cool.

While cooking, you will be able to prepare your chocolate ganache. For this, you will have to heat the cream, butter, and sugar in a saucepan. Stir regularly to obtain a smooth mixture.

Off the heat, add your chocolate pieces. Leave to stand for 5 to 6 minutes, then mix to make your preparation homogeneous and smooth.

Spread the topping over your sponge cake, on top and on the sides.

For decoration, arrange your mikados all around your cake to make the wooden barriers of your old cemetery .

Plant a few cat's tongues to make the tombstones and Oreo crumbs at the foot of the stones.

Arrange a few bones into meringues .

With your orange sugar dough, form balls of different sizes (about 4) to form pumpkins . Then with the green dough, form the leaves.
